Population Health Program
The Population Health Programme provides GPs with the most up to date information and resources in the health promotion area.

- Provision of displays to practices to complement practice based health promotion strategies
- Patient education brochures via the patient education resource service
- Assistance with waiting room displays coinciding with National and local health promotion events

What's New from Medicare
Changes as of November 2006
The release of the new edition of the Medicare Benefits Schedule on the 1st of November this year saw the introduction of several new Medicare item numbers as well as changes to previous items.
One of the major additions has been the introduction of the GP Mental Health Care Items as part of the Better Access program providing better access to psychiatrists, psychologists and GPs. Other new items include the 45 year Old Health Check, the Pregnancy Support Counselling and the Practice Nurse Pap Smear Items, as well as changes to the Asthma 3+ Visit Plan and Diabetes Cycle of Care.

Practice Nurse Pap Smear Items
There are new items that cover the practice nurse performing a cervical smear and at least one other preventative health check on behalf of and under the supervision of a medical practitioner and the patient is not admitted to a hospital or day hospital facility.
